So it’s Friday, and I know you are ready for the weekend. And you may be ready to relax and unwind. And maybe you want to get some things done. And that is what I’m here for. Today, I went to to have a super productive weekend. Now there are three things I want to share with you that are going to help you with having that super productive weekend, but also give me some time to relax. So let’s go ahead and jump on into those three things. So first thing is batching. I know you’ve probably heard of it. And if you haven’t, batching is just a productivity strategy that involves you grouping similar tasks together to complete all at once. So for instance, instead of having a super long to do list with a bunch of random, different tasks, you can look at that to do lists and kind of group together the things that are similar. So if you have to make several different phone calls, let’s just say you have to call your best friend, you have to call the doctor’s office, and you have to call to change something on some travel plans, group all of those phone calls in one sitting so that you’re getting all of those phone calls done at one time versus calling your best friend, then go in and cleaning up, then going and doing something out in the yard, then coming back and calling to change those travel plans. And you see how you’re just switching through a bunch of different tasks. So batching is amazing, because it allows us to make fewer decisions, because our tasks are already planned. So like I was saying in that previous example, about the phone calls, you know, you have to make those three phone calls. So you’re gonna get those things done a lot quicker. And there is this polish psychologist whose name I am not going to try to pronounce but I’m gonna call him Dr. Z. And Dr. Z has this effect. That pretty much says that any unfinished task stays in our memory, while completed tasks are actually forgotten. So batching helps us to get tasks done. And we can remember all of those things that we’ve gotten done, and have some more momentum. In addition, we don’t have those unfinished tasks, this thing in our mind getting us down or just given us decision fatigue. Another thing that I really think is super helpful if you can, is with batching is cooking double. And the reason why cooking double is so awesome, because you’re already cooking once, go ahead and double what you’re cooking so that you can have food for next time so that you can heat that up instead of having to cook twice. This saves so much time in a super helpful if your family does enjoy eating leftovers or doesn’t mind you getting creative with the leftovers. This is a one way or one task that you can actually batch that will be helpful over the weekend. So the second thing that you can do to get more done this weekend is disconnect, and disconnect from TV, emails, and in particular social media. Now, I love social media, I think it’s a great thing. But for me, it has become somewhat of a hindrance in my life. So I had decided at the beginning of the year to completely deactivate and delete some of my social media accounts. So you will not be able to find me anywhere on social media, I have found that being off social media is so helpful for so many different ways. I’m not telling you to go ahead and delete all your accounts. That’s not what I’m telling you to do. I’m just saying disconnect at least for a day, just to give yourself some time, so that you can be more present and focused on your life right now. And then the other thing is that social media and TV and emails, these things are huge distractions. And by disconnecting, you’re eliminating those distractions, so you have more time to do the things that you need to this weekend. And then also you can connect with the real world because as much as social media will make you feel like that is a whole nother universe within itself. You are totally disconnected from what is truly going on around you. So disconnecting from social media for a day, or at least for a period of time will help you to connect with the real world. And like I said, give you some more time. And the truth is, there is an actual study that found that users are spending on average two hours and 30 minutes on social media every single day, two hours and 30 minutes is a lot of time. And that is some time that you can use for decluttering or, you know actually advancing on some of those big goals and dreams that you have, or maybe even taken a nap. So instead of spending time on social media, instead of spending time in front of the TV or going through emails, disconnect from that at least for a day so that you can have more time and gain those two hours and 30 minutes back. Now the last thing to do to have a more productive weekend and get more done is getting into gear first thing in the morning. Now I’m trying to come to you before Saturday. I’m hoping that you listen to this before I start Have a but if not, it’s okay. We can try to get in for the next weekend. But what I mean by getting into gear first thing in the morning is as soon as the morning starts and you’ve had breakfast and gotten everybody situated, go ahead and get started and get those things going on that to do list so that you can get the momentum to do more and accomplish more. Because sometimes it’s hard to actually get started. But once you get started, that momentum is just it’s so energizing getting started first thing in the morning will help you with like I said, getting that momentum and getting more done. So just to recap, the three things to do to get more done this weekend is batching. Disconnecting, and then getting into gear first thing in the morning. Now, let us go ahead and start to implement this this weekend. And let me know if you found that helpful. I’ll be back again on Tuesday for another full episode. Take care and with lots of love
